Testimonials

Salen Pier House Testimonials

This comfortable and very spacious house is situated right beside the Sound of Mull, a short drive from the Oban to Craignure ferry terminal.
During summer months you will surely awake early to the dramatic views of the distant hills being lit by ever-changing first light. In the evening, at dusk, sit on the balcony or in the dining room rest area and marvel at the palette of shades and colours of sunset, perhaps even while languishing in the adjacent hot tub!
Whatever time of year you choose to visit, The Pierhouse will be a memory to cherish for years to come.
David – May ’23
From dazzling sunrise to tranquil sunset, the picture perfect views across the Sound of Mull from this special home at Salen Pier are spectacular and worth the journey on their own. But it’s also a very comfortable, well-equipped and spacious house, with enough room for family and friends to gather without getting under each other’s feet.
It’s just a few minutes walk away from places to swim, bird watch, walk and marvel at the gorgeous scenery. And five minutes from a local Spar, cafe, bakery, pub and kayak or paddle board hire.
This unique location right on the water’s edge means the only passers-by are the birds and wildlife, and the occasional sailing boat. With everything you need in the house, including fluffy towels and a hot tub, it’s the perfect place for rest and relaxation – with enough to do nearby to keep everyone happy. After a lifetime of visiting Mull, we’ve found our perfect place.
Susan – May ’23
Our family has been visiting Mull for thirty plus years and we have stayed at a number of holiday houses. In 2015 we discovered Peter and his Pierhouse and have never looked for anywhere else! The Pierhouse has become a ‘home from home’ destination for us.
It is situated in Salen, overlooking the Sound of Mull. This is the perfect mid-island location, offering easy access to the rest of the island. The size of the Pierhouse has meant that we have shared holidays with so many other family members and friends and have a catalogue of brilliant memories!
The house is very homely, comfortable and spacious and is well-equipped for large groups. Showers and baths have been recently upgraded and the hot water is in constant supply. There are a variety of sitting areas, indoor and out, and to truly relax one can jump into the hot-tub and gently bubble away whilst overlooking the Sound of Mull!
The views are truly spectacular and ever-changing – from the pink/golden dawns to the red/orange sunsets. Passing birds, boats and sea-life provide constant interest. The picture window in the large sitting room provides the perfect opportunity to gaze out, wind down and relax – no matter what the weather chooses to do. In fact we have been very lucky to have had a fair share of blue skies and azure water and have never had to light the wood burning stove. But we love Mull rain or shine and always come prepared for a ‘parky picnic’!
Peter is always so helpful and friendly. He is easy to contact and has dealt with any queries promptly. Nicky now assists with the management of the property so she is nearby and, again, is not only really helpful but a mine of information. Try the Calgary coffee she and Susanne roast – and find the honesty box hut selling Mull biscuits – delicious!
The Pierhouse makes Mull even more magical for us – and we have already booked for next year!’

For a break that is truly “home from home” then Salen Pier House is it. An extremely comfortable house with every requirement for a great holiday catered for.  Peter was extremely helpful & accommodating and gave us loads of suggestions for walks, eating & days out.
Salen Pier is a truly lovely spot where you truly do get away from it all.
We will be back.
